Dubbed by The Daily Beast as “a REAL art star of Art Basel Miami Beach Week,” X Contemporary 2016 will be the first international modern and contemporary art fair to partner with the brand new Nobu Hotel Miami Beach.

Uniquely staged in two floors of event space flooded with natural light, plus outdoor gardens with beach access, X Contemporary’s second edition will be recognized for introducing compelling narratives that slow down the viewing experience. Not only traditional galleries but also rarely-exhibited private collections, private dealers and independent curators will participate alongside specially curated exhibitions.

FEATURE EXHIBITIONS
“The Women Who Made Modern Art Modern,” Organized by Consulting Curator Michael Klein, This exhibition profiles 12 women dealers active in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s who helped shape the careers of the century’s most important artists. Over 40 works on view by well-known names like Agnes Martin and Franz Kline, and rediscovered artists such as Claire Falkenstein.

“Neptune’s Place – Early Works By Jean-Michel Basquiat,” Curated by Al Diaz — aka SAMO. The Bishop Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, organizes 30 early works by Jean-Michel Basquiat that have never been on view for the public, curated by Basquiat’s long-time friend and collaborator Al Diaz.
