The University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences Department of Philosophy announces the visit of renowned biologist Richard Dawkins. Dawkins will present a lecture titled “The Magic of Reality” on September 30th at 5:00 PM in the Storer Auditorium on the Coral Gables campus at the University of Miami. Dawkins will lecture on the magic of science and discuss a wide range of natural phenomena.
Dawkins was the inaugural holder of the Charles Simonyi Professorship of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University, a position he held from 1995-2008. He developed the concept of the “meme” and is the author of several books that provide an understanding of evolution and various aspects of science. Among his books are The Ancestor’s Tale, The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, A Devil’s Chaplain, The God Delusion and The Magic of Reality.
