Seminole Classic Casino, American Cancer Society Host Celebration for 150 Breast Cancer Survivors Monday, Sept. 28

Seminole Classic Casino and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to host a celebration for 150 local breast cancer survivors at the casino’s Hollywood Hall on Monday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The tea party themed event which will feature food and an opportunity for survivors to be recognized, celebrate life and feel a sense of community by gathering with others who have been impacted by breast cancer. Local radio personality Kenny Walker (KISS 99.9 and the official stadium voice for the Miami Dolphins) has donated his time to emcee this Survivor Event, also known as the kickoff for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. This year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 at Huizenga Park in Fort Lauderdale.

“One out of every 8 women and 1 in every 1,000 men will be affected by breast cancer. It knows no race, color, social class, creed or gender. Just about everyone knows someone who has been touched by this dreadful disease. Our desire to make a difference escalates each year. We desire to play a more significant role in our community to help all those that have been affected by breast cancer.”  said Larry Buck, General Manager of Seminole Classic Casino.

Seminole Classic Casino will be fundraising for the American Cancer Society from Sept. 21 through Oct. 31. Fundraising efforts are designed to engage the community and the casino’s team members through special events, property-wide initiatives and participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

“We are excited to assist our community and the American Cancer Society in its efforts to ‘transform breast cancer from deadly to treatable and from treatable to preventable’.” Buck said.

Last year Seminole Classic Casino raised $12,216 for the cause through property wide initiatives and has a goal of $15,000 this year. Seminole Classic Casino has participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer the past four years and is the  2015 Survivor Sponsor at this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 31 .
