Asma T. Uddin serves as Legal Counsel for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a Washington, D.C.-based public interest law firm protecting the free expression of all religious traditions, whose recent cases include the Supreme Court landmark ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby (2014).

Uddin is also the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of altmuslimah.com, a web magazine dedicated to issues on gender and Islam. She serves on the Islam and Religious Freedom Advisory Council and The Institute for Global Engagement’s Center for Women, Faith & Leadership Advisory Council.

Uddin earned her Bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) from UM in 2002, with a double major in Religious Studies and English.

WHEN/WHERE: 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 21 at the CAS Gallery, 1210 Stanford Drive, on the University’s Coral Gables campus.
