Pat Riley to Present John Calipari for Hall of Fame Induction

Miami HEAT President and Hall of Famer Pat Riley will present University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015. The induction ceremony will be hosted tonight at Springfield Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusetts. Riley will co-present alongside fellow Hall of Famer Larry Brown (’02).

 

Calipari’s career includes six trips to the Final Four, four of them with Kentucky (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015). In 2012, Calipari led Kentucky to its eighth NCAA Tournament Championship, the first title of his career. 

 

In January 2015, Riley announced a new collaboration between the AmericanAirlines Arena and the Basketball Hall of Fame to host the first-ever Hoophall Miami Invitational,a premier college basketball showcase on Friday, November 27, 2015. The one-day holiday double-header will feature Coach Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats vs. the South Florida Bulls and the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the Memphis Tigers. Game times are slated for 5:00 p.m. on ESPN and 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

A variety of events will take place surrounding the Hoophall Miami Invitational including:

 

November 24th:       

A one-day quadruple-header at AmericanAirlines Arena featuring local high school teams. Tickets to the games cost $13

and also grant access to the college double-header on Friday.

 

November 25th:       

Hall of Fame Legends Luncheon presented by Moet will be hosted at the Arena bringing together business professionals

from the Miami-area and benefitting the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Alonzo Mourning’s Mourning

Family Foundation. The luncheon will be a star-studded meet and greet event with the legends of the game including Hall

of Famers like Mourning and Riley.

 

Mourning will host a 90-minute Hall of Fame Youth Clinic at the Overtown Youth Center for the college players

participating in the Hoophall Miami Invitational. Attendees of the clinic will also be treated to the big games on Friday

evening. Local businesses may show their support for the youth of Miami by donating game tickets to the main event. For

November 27th:       

A special tailgate and youth chalk talk open to ticket holders is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., including a DJ, contests, food,

prizes and a basketball legend guest speaker on the Xfinity East Plaza at AmericanAirlines Arena.
