In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition and One Community Partnership (OCP2) held the first annual “OCP2 Wellness Day” for Broward County youth, families, and community providers on Saturday, May 14th. Community members of all ages attended the free event at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill and took part in a fun-filled day of exciting activities including a basketball dunking contest, kickball, yoga/meditation, arts and crafts. Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness was also in attendance.

An awards presentation took place to recognize community members for their involvement in OCP2 and their service to the community. Awards were presented by Silvia Quintana, CEO of Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; Emery Cowan, Director of Clinical Services and OCP2 Project Director at Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; and Susan Nyamora, President/CEO of South Florida Wellness Network. Award recipients included: SunServe, who was named Provider Partner of the Year; Edward Moore Jr. who was named Youth Partner of the Year, and Giselle Grueter who was honored as Young Artist of the Year. Certificates of Appreciation were also awarded by Gretchen Rovira of Federation of Families Broward County to Lisa Math, Melina Markos, and Laura Thompson for their OCP2 committee leadership and advocacy.
