United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED was awarded a $30,000 grant by the Walmart Foundation at a special ceremony held on Tuesday, May 10th. The ceremony took place at the newly opened Walmart Supercenter located on State Road 7 in Hollywood, FL where grants were awarded to eight local non-profit organizations for their work to better the Broward County community. MISSION UNITED’s Broward Senior Director Leland Liebe and Miami-Dade’s Director Brian Lynch attended the ceremony to receive the check on behalf of the organization. The grant will help further MISSION UNITED’s goal to support US military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County as they re-acclimate to civilian life.
During the ceremony, Adriana Pereira-Zeyes, Florida Director of Public Affairs & Government Relations for Walmart, and Elise Vasquez-Warner, Regional VP of Operations for Walmart, spoke about the Walmart Foundation’s commitment to supporting local communities across the country. The May 10th ceremony was part of an initiative for which the Walmart Foundation is donating a total of $1.1 million to 26 non-profit organizations across Florida.
