LA MAR AT MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MIAMI INTRODUCES NEW BAR PROGRAM

As one of Miami’s most breathtaking and chic hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Miamiis consistently at the forefront of presenting new and sophisticated experiences. As an extension of the hotel’s notable dining scene, celebrated Peruvian restaurant La Mar by Gastón Acurio is proud to introduce Eleftherios Kraounakis (Lef), who will head up the location’s new, expanded nightlife program.

 

La Mar’s lively bar and breathtaking waterfront setting provides guests with an unparalleled evening experience. The restaurant’s comprehensive cocktail program is well regarded for its Peruvian Classics, and Lef, who brings 13 years of experience honed at hot spots in his native Greece and Miami Beach, will introduce nine fresh Signature Cocktails inspired by South America, Asia and the Mediterranean – a nod to Lef’s heritage.

 

Many of the new Signature Cocktails will utilize innovative ingredients like dry Peruvian eucalyptus found in the Eucalyptus Mule, adding aromatic essence to barsol quebranta pisco, ginger water, lemon juice and house made ginger beer.  Lef’s method of freezing garnishes directly into ice provides visual flair and infuses flavor into cocktails as it melts. In the Delight cocktail, rose petals are suspended in an ice sphere, providing a floral hint to this gin and Peruvian tonic creation.

 

Other menu highlights showcase Lef’s use of modern techniques such as creating homemade juices, syrups and bitters, as well as foams delivered through a siphon. El Clasico incorporates Peru’s famed spiced purple corn juice, Chicha Morada, in a tangy, yet slightly sweet cocktail with vodka, lime and sparkling wine. With the Albahaca Pisco, Lef infuses pisco and vodka with refreshing cucumber and lemongrass before adding cucumber-basil puree, lime and bitters.

 

“La Mar already has a physically magnificent bar, which clearly serves as a focal point for the restaurant,” says Lef.  “I’m looking forward to taking the volume up a notch by adding innovative cocktails and live weekend music, and welcoming people who may want to stop by simply for drinks and entertainment.”

 

Perfectly complementing the new program will be live music by local and world-renowned DJs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8-11pm, providing for a lively atmosphere.  The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am to 3:30pm for lunch and 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm for dinner. Sunday Brunch is served weekly from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm.  Reservations are suggested at +1 (305) 913 8358.
