“We are proud and thrilled to present this charismatic American artist bringing our audiences vital sounds from the front lines of jazz,” said Liz Wallace, Arsht Center vice president of programming.

“You simply can’t miss a chance to hear Joshua Redman. He possesses one of jazz’s most distinctive and innovative voices, and yet deeply rooted in the tradition. We have been anxious to include Joshua Redman in the Jazz Roots series, and I am thrilled that he will be here.” says Shelly Berg, JAZZ ROOTS Artistic Advisor.

In the past quarter century, JOSHUA REDMAN has redefined the jazz quartet genre with his singular sound and boundless creativity. “The heart of his success lies in the forthright connection he makes with an audience,” says The New York Times. His latest album, Still Dreaming, was recently nominated for
a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album! The album was inspired by the band Old and New Dreams, of which Joshua Redman’s father Dewey Redman was a member. That band had an all-star lineup of Ornette Coleman collaborators: Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell. Still

Dreaming features six new compositions by the new band plus one tune by Haden, one by Coleman.

The JAZZ ROOTS education program is presented by Baldwin Richardson Foods, and made possible in part by Wells Fargo, Green Family Foundation, Quint Family Foundation, Citizens Interested in Arts, and Encore Circle members.
