InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel Introduces Dive-In Movie Series at Their Iconic Indoor Pool

The InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, located at 505. N Michigan Ave., is thrilled to announce its Dive-In Movie series featuring classic, kid-friendly summer films set inside their historic indoor pool. Each Saturday night, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, beginning at sunset, guests can grab a bag of freshly popped popcorn and complimentary inflatable floaty before enjoying a full-length feature film projected on the hotel’s 80-foot jumbo screen. Dry seating will also be provided for moviegoers who prefer a spot on solid ground.

In addition to the movie, guests can order bites and beverages off the hotel’s new poolside menu from Executive Chef Craig Cooper. The poolside menu will be offered all summer long and features cooler fare to perfectly pair with warm, summer temps. Craft cocktails, beer, and wine will also be available off the “adult-swim” section of the poolside menu.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Dive-In Movies to our hotel’s summer programming,” said Pete Demay, General Manager of InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. “As a parent myself, I know that traveling to a new city with the whole family can be exciting and exhausting all at the same time. Having a great on-site evening program like this allows parents to have a nice, easy way to end a day of Chicago exploration. Our Junior Olympic swimming pool is the ideal setting for a luxurious night in that feels like a summer night out. It’s an experience that guests can’t get anywhere else.”

The InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile’s Junior Olympic swimming pool is was built in 1929 and located on the 14th floor of the hotel’s Executive Tower. At the time of its creation, the pool was considered an engineering marvel as it challenged its creators to construct one of the largest pools in the country at a then unprecedented height. The pool showcases classic Spanish architecture including a hand-carved terracotta fountain, hand-painted majolica tiles, marble pillars, elegant stained-glass fish scale windows, and even ornate terracotta tray ceilings.
