This May, Greater Miami and The Beaches is celebrating International Museum Day (May 18) all month-long.  The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (GMCVB) Miami Museum Month, sponsored by MasterCard Priceless Miami, offers visitors and locals the opportunity to take advantage of special deals and discounts at 25 participating museums.  From a visit to the new Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) to an interactive family day at the Miami Children’s Museum, the destination’s portfolio of museums offer exciting moments of discovery for guests of every age and interest.


What’s the deal?

  • “Buy One Get One Free”: During Miami Museum Month, visitors will receive “Buy One Get One Free” admission at select Miami museums including, the Bass Museum of Art, which features major European paintings and the Miami Auto Museum at the Dezer Collection, which has over 1,200 vehicles on display from some of Hollywood’s most celebrated films and television shows.
  • “Join One Museum See Them All”: Museum visitors who sign up for membership at participating “Join One Museum See Them All” museums will receive complimentary admission at other partner properties. Participating museums include theInstitute of Contemporary Art, Miami Children’s Museum, Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum,and more.

To kick off Miami Museum Month, The National YoungArts Foundation, a Miami-based organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts, will present Romeo & Juliet Outside the Box on Friday, May 8 from 7-9 PM on the YoungArts Plaza. Playwright and YoungArts alumnus Tarell Alvin McCraney (1999 YoungArts Winner in Theater), along with filmmaker and fellow YoungArts alumnus Andrew Hevia (2003 YoungArts Winner in Cinematic Arts), will bring together some of Miami’s electric performance artists, including dancers from the Miami City Ballet and Gentry George, appearing courtesy of Peter London Global Dance Project, to recreate an interactive evening inspired by Romeo and Juliet. Sponsored by ArtPlace America, the event is free of charge and open to the public.  


Making its American Debut…

New this year, MAISON&OBJET, the international home industry event, will make its American debut at the Miami Beach Convention Center. From May 12-15, more than 300 international home brands will be in attendance featuring the latest emerging design trends. The three-day event will also include an Interior Design & Lifestyle Summit with acclaimed industry guest speakers, and an awards presentation honoring established and emerging designers. Select museums and gallery partners including The Perez Art Museum, Wolfsonian/FIU, MOCA, Lowe Art Museum, and the Bass Museum will also participate by creating pop up displays for the event.
