Ford Lauderdale Air Show returns to Fort Lauderdale Beach May 6-7

unnamed-17The Super Bowl of air shows, the Ford Lauderdale Air Show, will return to Fort Lauderdale Beach on May 6-7.

The Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will headline the 2017 event that will feature full capabilities demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper and a U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet.

 

Civilian performers announced to date include Team Oracle and Sean D. Tucker, the GEICO Skytypers and Mike Wiskus in the Lucas Oil Pitts.

 

Additional military and civilian performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

“We’re thrilled to have the show returning in 2017 with Ford as our title sponsor,” said Bryan Lilley, Chairman of the Ford Lauderdale Air Show. “We’ve got a great lineup coming together for this year and look forward to bringing the sound of freedom back to the skies over Fort Lauderdale Beach.”

 

Officially known as the Canadian Forces 431 Demonstration Squadron, the Snowbirds are Canada’s military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team whose purpose is to “demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel.”

 

The Snowbirds will be bringing more than 80 personnel from their home base in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, along with 11 red and white CT-114 Tutors – nine to be used for aerobatic performances during the show.
