FLORIDA GRAND OPERA TO PRESENT MENOTTI’S THE TELEPHONE AT THE ART OF STORYTELLING MINI-FESTIVAL CELEBRATING ITALY

unnamed-24Florida Grand Opera is pleased to participate in the Art of Storytelling Mini Festival on April 12.  Perfect for the entire family, the day is free and open to the public where families can enjoy activities including arts & crafts, performances, and multi-cultural stories all inspired by Italy. The day kicks off with a special Florida Grand Opera performance of the English-language version of The Telephone, composer Gian Carlo Menotti’s delightful comic opera about a lovesick young man hoping to propose to his girl who is having way too many conversations on the phone. But the opera ends happily with a romantic duet over—what else—the phone line!

Director of Education at Florida Grand Opera, Cerise Sutton, says “FGO’s education mission is to educate, entertain and encourage a community of opera lovers, and we plan to do just that by stepping off of the stage and into South Florida communities.”
