Dolphins Cycling Challenge V Kicks Off With Over 1,000 Cyclists Throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties

unnamed-24More than 1,000 cyclists biked between 28 and 104 miles across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties as part of the fifth annual Dolphins Cycling Challenge earlier today. This major community initiative is a collaborative effort between the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to directly to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Day one of the weekend featured cyclists participating in the Miami Beach TD Ride, The U Turn and the Hurricanes Hundred. An enthusiastic crowd of cyclists and supporters gathered early at Sun Life Stadium, where Miami Dolphins alumnus Kim Bokamper served as Grand Marshal. After a moment of silence for deceased cyclist and avid DCC supporter Walter Reyes, riders got on the road from the stadium down 29 miles to a festive finish on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. The U Turn route started at City Place in West Palm Beach, with a route out and back to cover 28 miles. The Hurricanes Hundred was the longest ride of the day, with participants leaving Sun Life Stadium, riding down to Miami Beach and then up the coast to West Palm for a total of 104 miles to the finish at City Place.

Day two of the DCC will begin Sunday and will features three rides of various lengths leaving from City Place in West Palm Beach, the Doctors Hospital Training Facility in Davie and Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale as well as a new 5K run/walk at Sun Life Stadium. All day two participants will enter Sun Life Stadium and join the Finish Line Celebration. For more information, visit www.RideDCC.com
