Calligaris Miami: Art + Design 2012 – Art Basel Miami
Italian furniture and home décor purveyor, Calligaris, is celebrating the works of acclaimed Uruguayan sculptor and artist, Pablo Atchugarry and mixed media artist, Lara Campiglia, with a cocktail reception during the Art Basel week. Atchugarry is scheduled to unveil five new creations specifically designed for Art Basel Miami Beach 2012, hosted by one of Uruguay’s finest modern and contemporary art galleries, Galeria Sur (booth B.10). Atchugarry will be in attendance at Calligaris Miami to showcase one of his sculptures, a 240 cm tall, bronze contemporary masterpiece.
Uruguayan artist, Lara Campiglia, will feature exhibit pieces from her “City from The Sky” series. An aerial perspective of men on Earth inspires the mixed media artist’s latest series created in Miami. Campiglia’s contemporary artwork has been on exhibit in Uruguay, Miami, Los Angeles, New York City and Vienna.

About Pablo Atchugarry
Pablo Atchugarry was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on August 23, 1954. His father, Pedro, an art lover, recognized Pablo’s skills and encouraged him to take up painting as a child. Atchugarry started showing his works at the age of eleven and, as an adolescent, soon started feeling the need to express himself in other forms and materials, such as sculpture in cement and compositions in metal and wood. His first personal exhibition was held in Montevideo in 1972, followed two years later by his first exhibition abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the end of the seventies, Atchugarry made several trips to France, Spain and Italy, where he held his first personal exhibition in Lecco.
Atchugarry’s career has spanned more than 40 years. Visitors can tour The Pablo Atchugarry Museum in Lecco, Italy, which was inaugurated in 1999. Atchugarry’s monumental works and sculptures can be found all over the globe, both in private collections and in public spaces in Europe and Latin America. Most recently, in March 2012, his sculpture, “Dreaming New York”, temporarily graced Times Square in New York City.
Atchugarry received the Michelangelo Award in Lecco in recognition of his artistic career. He currently lives and works in both Lecco, Italy and in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
About Lara Campiglia
Lara Patricia Campiglia Monzon started her career as a business leader in the real estate and construction industries in Montevideo, Uruguay. For over 15 years, Campiglia led her firm, Patricia Campiglia Real Estate and served as director of Campiglia Development, a construction company.
At the height of her real estate career, Campiglia began experimenting in painting and engraving at Freddie Faux, Juan Carlos Rua and Taller Pocitos art shops. By 2008, Campiglia took a leap and made the life changing decision to work full time on what is clearly her passion: contemporary art; beginning a new stage in her life. In 2010, Campiglia finally cut any ties left with the business world for the world of art.
