BRICKELL GALLERY NIGHT FOUNDER STELLA M. HOLMES ANNOUNCES ANNIVERSARY EVENT ON DECEMBER 17, 2009

Portion of the proceeds from sales at this event to benefit UM’s Lowe Art Museum

Founder Stella M. Holmes announced that the first anniversary of Brickell Gallery Night will take place on December 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Conrad Miami Hotel, 1395 Brickell Ave (level 25). This luxury hotel in the Hilton portfolio is located in the heart of Miami’s vibrant Brickell Avenue district. Conrad Miami’s General Manager Martin D. Wormull and “The Brickellian” are co-hosts.

Featured artists are painters Humberto Calzada and Rafael Soriano, along with Master Sculptor Manuel Carbonell. Each artist incorporates in his work historical elements of the Cuban culture in which they all share.

A portion of the proceeds from sales at this event will benefit the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami, which not only supports, extends and enriches the mission of the university but also serves as a resource for the Greater South Florida community through its permanent and borrowed collections.

Brickell Gallery Night, now presented under auspices of “The Brickellian,” was founded by Ms. Holmes to bring people together through art and provide a forum where those who live and work in Brickell can connect and forge a cultural identity.  For the business community, it’s an opportunity to network in a creative and uplifting environment while supporting local artists.

Stella M. Holmes has been a prominent supporter of the arts in South Florida for many years. She is a trustee of Vizcaya Museum & Gardens as well as a member of the Director’s Circle at the Lowe Art Museum. At the Lowe, Ms. Holmes is the principle supporter of ArtLab, a new exhibition launched to provide a hands on museum experience to UM students who curate a museum exhibition from the conceptual stage to the final installation. As broker and President of Overseas Partners Realty, Ms. Holmes also created “The Brickellian” – a bimonthly newsletter focusing on local real estate scene and the arts, culture and style of Miami’s most vibrant neighborhood.
