Boca Raton’s Iconic Pink Resort Goes Blue for Autism Awareness

unnamed-67This April in honor of Autism Awareness month, the famed pink resort, the Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, will transform itself blue and host fundraisers to raise awareness for autism within the Boca Raton community. Kicking off the global autism awareness initiative, on April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day, the Boca Raton Resort & Club will swap out traditional lighting fixtures with blue lights as a part of Autism Speaks’ “Light It Up Blue” campaign.

In addition to lighting it up blue, the resort will be hosting a variety of fundraisers for the cause. The resort will be selling blue puzzle-piece shaped pins for $5, as well as special cupcakes in Serendipity, where the resort will be donating all proceeds to Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (FAU CARD).

Thursday April 9th, the Boca Beach Club will be hosting a garage sale in the Splash Café Hallway from 10am until 2pm, where all proceeds will be donated to the FAU CARD as well. The FAU CARD provides a wide variety of services at no cost for people and families with autism, including developmental screenings, social skills groups, support groups, consultations, public education and many other services. Staff members, resort members and guests are encouraged to show their support by purchasing and wearing the pin, enjoying a cupcake from Serendipity, attending the garage sale, or making a donation towards the FAU CARD throughout the month of April.
