BILTMORE CELEBRATES ONE YEAR OF ALMA DE TANGO

The Biltmore Hotel invites tango lovers to celebrate the one year anniversary of Alma de Tango at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010. Over the past year, more than 1,000 students have visited the hotel’s Danielson Gallery on Tuesday nights to learn tango through the guidance of World Tango Champion Monica Llobet.

Llobet is a world renowned professional ballroom and Argentine tango dancer who has earned numerous recognitions and accomplishments granted by the International Dance Organization. In 2001, Llobet was honored as “World Argentine Tango Champion” in Miami and the “World Cup Argentine Tango Champion” both in Hungary (2000) and China (2001). A pioneer of tango in South Florida, Llobet founded and managed local recognized events such as Alma de Tango, which today in collaboration with the Biltmore Hotel brings every Tuesday a unique and select atmosphere for tango lessons, milonga and cultural interchange.

Group classes for beginners are from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and advanced students from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Following class, Llobet will recap the first year of Alma de Tango at the Biltmore. Guests will enjoy a special performance by professional tango dancers and share the dance floor with experienced milongueros as they practice tango throughout the evening. No dance partner is necessary as guests are encouraged to change partners during the class and milonga.
Nightly drawing includes Sunday Champagne Brunch for two at the Biltmore and a private tango lesson with Monica Llobet. Admission is $25, includes the class and milonga. A cash bar with specially selected wines from Argentina is available.
