Art meets furniture design for Art Basel

Triangles sculpture by Pietro EstradaExperience the transformation of a luxury furniture showroom– Artefacto Home—for Miami Art Week. The gorgeous space will feature an all-new site-specific installation fabricated entirely from recycled woods and cardboard on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m.

Created by Latin artist Alejandro Estrada, the piece is a part of a larger vision to bridge the principles of design, architecture and art. The commission is especially exciting for Paulo Bacchi’s Artefacto, as the artist’s work has also been featured in movies like Jennifer Lawrence’s Passengers and in Fortune 500 corporations, including the Google offices. For Artefacto, Estrada designed expansive panels of carved geometric shapes that “shift” from various angles and viewpoints. He was inspired by the idea that design is art (and vice versa) and used organic materials, natural tones and clean lines to bring the concept to life.

The exhibition, which is open to the public, begins Dec. 1 in celebration of Art Basel Miami Beach and Artefacto’s 15th anniversary in the US.
